Chapter 109: Rāma Refutes Jābāli
Text 2.109.10
सत्यमेवानृशंसं च राजवृत्तं सनातनम्।
तस्मात्सत्यात्मकं राज्यं सत्ये लोकः प्रतिष्ठितः॥
satyam evānṛśaṁsaṁ ca rāja-vṛttaṁ sanātanam
tasmāt satyātmakaṁ rājyaṁ satye lokaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ
satyam eva = is truthfulness; anṛśaṁsam = filled with compassion; ca = and; rāja-vṛttam = the conduct of kings; sanātanam = eternal; tasmāt = therefore; satya-ātmakam = becomes filled with truthfulness; rājyam = the kingdom; satye = in truthfulness; lokaḥ = the people; pratiṣṭhitaḥ = established.
The eternal conduct of kings is truthfulness filled with compassion. Therefore, the kingdom becomes filled with truthfulness and the people become established in truthfulness.
Glorifying truthfulness, Rāma reveals His firm conviction of being fixed in truthfulness and establishes His ideology based on truthfulness.
