Chapter 114: Ayodhyā’s loss of Splendor
Text 2.114.12
पुष्पनद्धां वसन्तान्ते मत्तभ्रमरनादिताम्।
द्रुतदावाग्निविप्लुष्टां क्लान्तां वनलतामिव॥
puṣpa-naddhāṁ vasantānte matta-bhramara-nāditām
druta-dāvāgni-vipluṣṭāṁ klāntāṁ vana-latām iva
puṣpa-naddhām = flowering; vasanta-ante = in summer; matta-bhramara-nāditām = which was noisy with the sounds of excited bumblebees; druta-dāva-agni-vipluṣṭām = which was slightly burnt by a raging forest fire; klāntām = and which was exhausted; vana-latām = a forest creeper; iva = Ayodhyā resembled.
Ayodhyā resembled a flowering forest creeper which was noisy with the sounds of excited bumblebees in summer, which was slightly burnt by a raging forest fire and which was exhausted.1
