Chapter 20: Rāma Kills the Fourteen Rākṣasas
Text 3.20.21
ते भित्त्वा रक्षसां वेगाद्वक्षांसि रुधिराप्लुताः।
विनिष्पेतुस्तदा भूमौ न्य॑मज्जन्ताशनिस्वनाः॥
te bhittvā rakṣasāṁ vegād vakṣāṁsi rudhirāplutāḥ
viniṣpetus tadā bhūmau nyamajjantāśani-svanāḥ
te = they; bhittvā = pierced; rakṣasām = of the rākṣasas; vegāt = with the forcefully; vakṣāṁsi = the chests; rudhira-āplutāḥ = drenched in blood; viniṣpetuḥ = and rushed out of them; tadā = then; bhūmau = on the ground; nyamajjanta = the arrows fell; aśani-svanāḥ = and the sound of a thunderbolt.
They forcefully pierced the chests of the rākṣasas and rushed out, drenched in blood. The arrows then fell on the ground with the sound of a thunderbolt.
