Chapter 21: Śūrpaṇakhā Impels Khara to Attack Rāma
Text 3.21.4
किमेतच्छ्रोतुमिच्छामि कारणं यत्कृते पुनः।
हा नाथेति विनर्दन्ती सर्पवल्लुठसि क्षितौ॥
kim etac chrotum icchāmi kāraṇaṁ yat-kṛte punaḥ
hā nātheti vinardantī sarpaval luṭhasi kṣitau
kim = what; etat = is this; śrotum = to hear; icchāmi = I want; kāraṇam = the reason; yat-kṛte = for; punaḥ = repeatedly; hā = O; nātha iti = master; vinardantī = while crying; sarpavat = like a snake; luṭhasi = your rolling; kṣitau = on the ground.
What is this? I want to hear the reason for your rolling on the ground like a snake while repeatedly crying, “O master!”
Khara was astonished.
