Chapter 21: Śūrpaṇakhā Impels Khara to Attack Rāma
Text 3.21.12
विषादनक्राध्युषिते परित्रासोर्मिमालिनि।
किं मां न त्रायसे मग्नां विपुले शोकसागरे॥
viṣāda-nakrādhyuṣite paritrāsormi-mālini
kiṁ māṁ na trāyase magnāṁ vipule śoka-sāgare
viṣāda-nakra-adhyuṣite = inhabited by the crocodile of dejection; paritrāsa-ūrmi-mālini = and containing waves of terror; kim = will; mām = me; na = not; trāyase = you rescue; magnām = who has sunk; vipule = in a vast; śoka-sāgare = ocean of sorrow.
Will you not rescue me who has sunk in a vast ocean of sorrow inhabited by the crocodile of dejection and containing waves of terror?
In the next verse she repeats herself out of anger and fear.
