Chapter 21: Śūrpaṇakhā Impels Khara to Attack Rāma
Text 3.21.16
बुध्ध्याहमनुपश्यामि न त्वं रामस्य संयुगे।
स्थातुं प्रतिमुखे शक्तः सबलश्च महात्मनः॥
buddhyāham anupaśyāmi na tvaṁ rāmasya saṁyuge
sthātuṁ pratimukhe śaktaḥ sabalaś ca mahātmanaḥ
buddhyā = with my intelligence; aham = I; anupaśyāmi = foresee that; na = not; tvam = you; rāmasya = Rāma; saṁyuge = in battle; sthātum = to stand; pratimukhe = in opposition; śaktaḥ = will be able; sa-balaḥ ca = and your armed forces; mahā-ātmanaḥ = to the great soul.
I foresee with my intelligence that you and your armed forces will not be able to stand in opposition to the great soul Rāma in battle.
