Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 23: Khara Disregards Evil Omens on the Way
Text 3.23.26

सा तस्य गर्जितं श्रुत्वा राक्षसस्य महाचमूः।
प्रहर्षमतुलं लेभे मृत्युपाशावपाशिता॥

sā tasya garjitaṁ śrutvā rākṣasasya mahā-camūḥ
praharṣam atulaṁ lebhe mṛtyu-pāśāvapāśitā

= the; tasya = his; garjitam = roar; śrutvā = hearing; rākṣasasya = of the rākṣasa; mahā-camūḥ = great army; praharṣam = delight; atulam = incomparable; lebhe = attained; mṛtyu-pāśa-avapāśitā = who were [already] tied to death’s noose.

Hearing his roar, the great army of the rākṣasa, who were [already] tied to death’s noose, attained incomparable delight.1

1 That Khara’s army was already tied by the noose of death is significant. It was only a matter of time before they were killed by Bhagavān Rāmacandra. It was already known to the universal authorities that these foolish rākṣasas who wanted to kill Śrī Rāma would be killed by Him in battle—obviously.
