Chapter 24: Lord Rāma Prepares to Fight With Khara’s Army
Text 3.24.2

तानुत्पातान्महाघोरानुत्थितान्रोमहर्षणान्।
प्रजानामहितान्दृष्ट्वा वाक्यं लक्ष्मणमब्रवीत्॥

tān utpātān mahā-ghorān utthitān roma-harṣaṇān
prajānām ahitān dṛṣṭvā vākyaṁ lakṣmaṇam abravīt

tān = the; utpātān = disturbances; mahā-ghorān = they were greatly terrible; utthitān = that had risen; roma-harṣaṇān = causing the hair to stand on end; prajānām = to the creatures [of His kingdom]; ahitān = were harmful; dṛṣṭvā = observing them; vākyam = [the following] words; lakṣmaṇam = to Lakṣmaṇa; abravīt = Lord Rāma spoke.

The disturbances that had risen were harmful to the creatures [of His kingdom]. They were greatly terrible, causing the hair to stand on end. Observing them, Lord Rāma spoke [the following] words to Lakṣmaṇa.
