Chapter 24: Lord Rāma Prepares to Fight With Khara’s Army
Text 3.24.24-25

इति राजर्षयः सिद्धाः सगणाश्च द्विजर्षभाः।
जातकौतूहलास्तस्थुर्विमानस्थाश्च देवताः॥

आविष्टं तेजसा रामं संग्रामशिरसि स्थितम्।
दृष्ट्वा सर्वाणि भूतानि भयाद्विव्यथिरे तदा॥

iti rāja-ṛṣayaḥ siddhāḥ sagaṇāś ca dvija-rṣabhāḥ
jāta-kautūhalās tasthur vimānasthāś ca devatāḥ

āviṣṭaṁ tejasā rāmaṁ saṅgrāma-śirasi sthitam
dṛṣṭvā sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhayād vivyathire tadā

iti = thus; rāja-ṛṣayaḥ = saintly kings; siddhāḥ = siddhas; sa-gaṇāḥ = their associates; ca = and; dvija-ṛṣabhāḥ = the best of the twice-born; jāta-kautūhalāḥ = filled with curiosity; tasthuḥ = stood; vimānasthāḥ ca = on airships; devatāḥ = celestials; āviṣṭam = endowed; tejasā = with prowess; rāmam = Rāma; saṅgrāma-śirasi = in the forefront of a battle; sthitam = and standing; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; sarvāṇi = about all; bhūtāni = creatures; bhayāt = in fear; vivyathire tadā = became distressed.

Thus saintly kings, siddhas, their associates and the best of the twice-born stood, filled with curiosity upon seeing Rāma endowed with prowess and standing in the forefront of a battle. In fear, celestials on airships became distressed about all creatures.

The saintly kings referred to herein are those who have attained the status of the devas and those who had become vānaprasthas.
