Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 24: Lord Rāma Prepares to Fight With Khara’s Army
Text 3.24.33

वितत्य च धनुर्भीमं तूण्योश्चोद्धृत्य सायकान्।
क्रोधमाहारयत्तीव्रं वधार्थं सर्वरक्षसाम्॥

vitatya ca dhanur bhīmaṁ tūṇyoś coddhṛtya sāyakān
krodham āhārayat tīvraṁ vadhārthaṁ sarva-rakṣasām

vitatya ca = He stretched; dhanuḥ = bow; bhīmam = His terrible; tūṇyoḥ ca = from His two quivers; uddhṛtya = took out; sāyakān  = arrows; krodham = anger; āhārayat = and exhibited; tīvram = extreme; vadha-artham = to slay; sarva-rakṣasām = all the rākṣasas.

He stretched His terrible bow, took out arrows from His two quivers and exhibited extreme anger to slay all the rākṣasas.

He slightly stretched His terrible bow with an arrow 1. He had a quiver tied behind Him and another tied to the side.

Āhārayat (“exhibited”) indicates that though He was the very form of mercy, He exhibited anger to remove the difficulties of those who had taken shelter of Him.
