Chapter 25: Śrī Rāma’s Battle with Khara’s Army
Text 3.25.3
स खरस्याज्ञया सूतस्तुरगान्समचोदयत्।
यत्र रामो महाबाहुरेको धुन्वन्स्थितो धनुः॥
sa kharasyājñayā sūtas turagān samacodayat
yatra rāmo mahā-bāhur eko dhunvan sthito dhanuḥ
saḥ = the; kharasya = Khara’s; ājñayā = on order; sūtaḥ = charioteer; turagān = his horses [to go to the place]; samacodayat = commanded; yatra = where; rāmaḥ = Rāma; mahā-bāhuḥ = the mighty-armed; ekaḥ = alone; dhunvan = while shaking; sthitaḥ = stood; dhanuḥ = His bow.
On Khara’s order, the charioteer commanded his horses [to go to the place] where the mighty-armed Rāma stood alone while shaking His bow.1
1 Lord Rāma shook His bow as an open challenge to Khara: “Come and fight with Me if you can!”
