Chapter 25: Śrī Rāma’s Battle with Khara’s Army
Text 3.25.9

ते वलाहकसङ्काशा महानादा महौजसः।
अभ्यधावन्त काकुत्स्थं रथैर्वाजिभिरेव च।
गजैः पर्वतकूटाभै रामं युद्धे जिघांसवः॥

te valāhaka-saṅkāśā mahā-nādā mahaujasaḥ
abhyadhāvanta kākutsthaṁ rathair vājibhir eva ca
gajaiḥ parvata-kūṭābhai rāmaṁ yuddhe jighāṁsavaḥ

te = they; valāhaka-saṅkāśāḥ = appearing like clouds; mahā-nādāḥ = were very noisy; mahā-ojasaḥ = and full of great prowess; abhyadhāvanta = they rushed headlong; kākutstham = towards the descendant of Kakutstha; rathaiḥ = on chariots; vājibhiḥ eva = horses; ca = and; gajaiḥ = elephants; parvata-kūṭa-ābhaiḥ = which had the hue of mountain peaks; rāmam = Śrī Rāma; yuddhe = in battle; jighāṁsavaḥ = they wanted to kill.

They were very noisy and full of great prowess. Appearing like clouds, they rushed headlong towards the descendant of Kakutstha on chariots, horses and elephants which had the hue of mountain peaks. They wanted to kill Śrī Rāma in battle.
