Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 25: Śrī Rāma’s Battle with Khara’s Army
Text 3.25.28

ते छिन्नशिरसः पेतुश्छिन्नवर्मशरासनाः।
सुपर्णवातविक्षिप्ता जगत्यां पादपा यथा॥

te chinna-śirasaḥ petuś chinna-varma-śarāsanāḥ
suparṇa-vāta-vikṣiptā jagatyāṁ pādapā yathā

te = they; chinna-śirasaḥ = had been decapitated; petuḥ = they fell down; chinna-varma-śara-āsanāḥ = and their armors and bows had been cut off; suparṇa-vāta-vikṣiptāḥ = uprooted by the wind generated by Garuḍa; jagatyām = on the ground; pādapāḥ = trees; yathā = like.

They had been decapitated and their armors and bows had been cut off. They fell down on the ground like trees uprooted by the wind generated by Garuḍa.1

1 It is well known from the Purāṇas that Garuḍa had thus uprooted the trees of the Nandana gardens when he went to fetch celestial nectar. Technical note: amṛta-haraṇa-samaye nandana-vāṭikā-vṛkṣāḥ garuḍenotpāṭitā iti purāṇa-prasiddhiḥ.
