शूलमुद्गरहस्ताश्च चापहस्ता महाबलाः।
सृजन्तः शरवर्षाणि शस्त्रवर्षाणि संयुगे।
द्रुमवर्षाणि मुञ्चन्तः शिलावर्षाणि राक्षसाः॥
śūla-mudgara-hastāś ca cāpa-hastā mahā-balāḥ
sṛjantaḥ śara-varṣāṇi śastra-varṣāṇi saṁyuge
druma-varṣāṇi muñcantaḥ śilā-varṣāṇi rākṣasāḥ
śūla-mudgara-hastāḥ = with lances, mallets; ca = and; cāpa-hastāḥ = and bows in their hands; mahā-balāḥ = the greatly powerful; sṛjantaḥ śara-varṣāṇi = showered [Lord Rāma] with arrows; śastra-varṣāṇi = and other weapons; saṁyuge = in this battle; druma-varṣāṇi muñcantaḥ = they [also] showered [Him] with trees; śilā-varṣāṇi = and stones; rākṣasāḥ = rākṣasas.
With lances, mallets and bows in their hands, the greatly powerful rākṣasas showered [Lord Rāma] with arrows and other weapons. In this battle, they [also] showered [Him] with trees and stones.
