Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 25: Śrī Rāma’s Battle with Khara’s Army
Text 3.25.38

नाददानं शरान्घोरान्न मुञ्चन्तं शिलीमुखान्।
विकर्षमाणं पश्यन्ति राक्षसास्ते शरार्दिताः॥

nādadānaṁ śarān ghorān na muñcantaṁ śilī-mukhān
vikarṣamāṇaṁ paśyanti rākṣasās te śarārditāḥ

na = not; ādadānam = [Rāma] placing [on His bow]; śarān = arrows; ghorān = terrible; na = or; muñcantam = His releasing; śilī-mukhān = those arrows; vikarṣamāṇam = His stretching [its bowstring]; paśyanti = could see; rākṣasāḥ = rākṣasas; te = the; śara-arditāḥ = tormented by the arrows.

Tormented by the arrows, the rākṣasas could not see [Rāma] placing terrible arrows [on His bow], His stretching [its bowstring] or His releasing those arrows.

The rākṣasas only saw themselves getting hurt. It should be understood that though the gāndharva weapon generates a variety of arrows, that is not stated here; this verse only talks about the release of [those] arrows after they were generated.
