Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 25: Śrī Rāma’s Battle with Khara’s Army
Text 3.25.41

युगपत्पतमानैश्च युगपच्च हतैर्भृशम्।
युगपत्पतितैश्चैव विकीर्णा वसुधाभवत्॥

yugapat patamānaiś ca yugapac ca hatair bhṛśam
yugapat patitaiś caiva vikīrṇā vasudhābhavat

yugapat patamānaiḥ ca = who were falling down; yugapat ca hataiḥ = with rākṣasas who were killed; bhṛśam yugapat = all at the same time; patitaiḥ = who had fallen down; ca eva = and; vikīrṇā = scattered; vasudhā = the ground; abhavat = was.

The ground was scattered with rākṣasas who were killed, who were falling down and who had fallen down, all at the same time.1

This states the effect of Rāma’s shooting multiple arrows at the same time.

1 Yugapat means “at the same time.” Since it is used thrice in this verse, it refers to three actions taking place at the same time. Therefore we have rendered the last instance of yugapat in this verse alone as “all at the same time.”
