Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 30: Khara Destroyed
Text 3.30.9

जनस्थाने हतस्थाने तव राक्षस मच्छरैः।
निर्भया विचरिष्यन्ति सर्वतो मुनयो वने॥

janasthāne hata-sthāne tava rākṣasa mac-charaiḥ
nirbhayā vicariṣyanti sarvato munayo vane

janasthāne = Janasthāna; hata-sthāne = place has been destroyed; tava = when your; rākṣasa = O rākṣasa; mat-śaraiḥ = by My arrows; nirbhayāḥ = fearlessly; vicariṣyanti = will wander about; sarvataḥ = everywhere; munayaḥ = the sages; vane = in the forest.

O rākṣasa, when your place Janasthāna has been destroyed by My arrows, the sages will wander about fearlessly everywhere in the forest.

“[Your] place” indicates that [Janasthāna] had been the residence of the rākṣasas.

GLOSS. The first line means, “O rākṣasa, when Janasthāna becomes a place of your death...” It also means, “O rākṣasa, when the place of your people becomes a place of death for the rākṣasas...”
