Chapter 30: Khara Destroyed
Text 3.30.20
जातस्वेदस्ततो रामो रोषाद्रक्तान्तलोचनः।
निर्बिभेद सहस्रेण बाणानां समरे खरम्॥
jāta-svedas tato rāmo roṣād raktānta-locanaḥ
nirbibheda sahasreṇa bāṇānāṁ samare kharam
jāta-svedaḥ = began to perspire; tataḥ = then; rāmaḥ = Rāma; roṣāt = in fury; rakta-anta-locanaḥ = and the corners of His eyes became red; nirbibheda = He pierced; sahasreṇa = with a thousand; bāṇānām = arrows; samare = in battle; kharam = Khara.
Rāma then began to perspire and the corners of His eyes became red in fury. With a thousand arrows, He pierced Khara in battle.
1 In other words, “Lord Rāma began to perspire” means “Lord Rāma appeared to start perspiring like the conditioned souls.”
Lord Rāma began to perspire due to anger, not because of exhaustion.
