Chapter 30: Khara Destroyed
Text 3.30.34-35

अर्धाधिकमुहूर्तेन रामेण निशितैः शरैः।
चतुर्दशसहस्राणि रक्षसां भीमकर्मणाम्॥

खरदूषणमुख्यानां निहतानि महाहवे।
अहो बत महत्कर्म रामस्य विदितात्मनः॥

ardhādhika-muhūrtena rāmeṇa niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ
caturdaśa-sahasrāṇi rakṣasāṁ bhīma-karmaṇām

khara-dūṣaṇa-mukhyānāṁ nihatāni mahāhave
aho bata mahat karma rāmasya viditātmanaḥ

ardha-adhika-muhūrtena = in one and a half muhūrtas; rāmeṇa = Rāma; niśitaiḥ = with His sharp; śaraiḥ = arrows; caturdaśa-sahasrāṇi = fourteen thousand; rakṣasām = rākṣasas; bhīma-karmaṇām = who had performed fierce deeds; khara-dūṣaṇa-mukhyānām = and who were led by Khara and Dūṣaṇa; nihatāni = has killed; mahā-āhave = in a great battle; aho bata = ah; mahat = the great; karma = feat; rāmasya = of Rāma; vidita-ātmanaḥ = whose nature is well known;

“In one and a half muhūrtas, Rāma has killed fourteen thousand rākṣasas, who had performed fierce deeds and who were led by Khara and Dūṣaṇa, with His sharp arrows in a great battle. Ah, the great feat of Rāma whose nature is well known!

“In one and a half muhūrtas” means “in three ghaṭikās.”

NOTE. Prabhupāda notes in his purport to Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.8.20:

According to Vedic astronomical calculations, day and night are each divided into thirty ghaṭikās (twenty-four minutes), instead of twelve hours.
