Chapter 38: Mārīca Instructs Rāvaṇa
Text 3.38.8
इत्येवमुक्तः स मुनी राजानमिदमब्रवीत्।
रामान्नान्यद्बलं लोके पर्याप्तं तस्य रक्षसः॥
ity evam uktaḥ sa munī rājānam idam abravīt
rāmān nānyad balaṁ loke paryāptaṁ tasya rakṣasaḥ
iti evam = thus; uktaḥ = upon being addressed; saḥ = the; muniḥ = sage; rājānam = to the king; idam = as follows; abravīt = spoke; rāmāt = than Rāma; na = no; anyat = other; balam = army; loke = in the world; paryāptam = is capable of dealing with; tasya = that; rakṣasaḥ = rākṣasa.
Upon being addressed thus, the sage spoke to the king as follows: “No army in the world other than Rāma is capable of dealing with that rākṣasa.1
1 In other words, Rāma is an army by Himself because He alone can fully deal with that rākṣasa.
To prevent Daśaratha from becoming angry, Viśvāmitra consoles him from the next verse.
