Chapter 38: Mārīca Instructs Rāvaṇa
Text 3.38.34
कलत्राणि च सौम्यानि मित्रवर्गं तथैव च।
यदीच्छसि चिरं भोक्तुं मा कृथा रामविप्रियम्॥
kalatrāṇi ca saumyāni mitra-vargaṁ tathaiva ca
yadīcchasi ciraṁ bhoktuṁ mā kṛthā rāma-vipriyam
kalatrāṇi ca = wives; saumyāni = [your] lovely; mitra-vargam = a circle of friends; tathā eva ca = and; yadi = if; icchasi = you want; ciram = for a long period of time; bhoktum = to enjoy; mā kṛthāḥ = don’t commit; rāma-vipriyam = an offense unto Rāma.
If you want to enjoy [your] lovely wives and a circle of friends for a long period of time, don’t commit an offense unto Rāma!
