Chapter 52: Rāvaṇa Again Abducts Sītā
Text 3.52.39
तस्यास्स्तनान्तराद्भ्रष्टो हारस्ताराधिपद्युतिः।
वैदेह्या निपतन्भाति गङ्गेव गगनाच्च्युता॥
tasyās stanāntarād bhraṣṭo hāras tārādhipa-dyutiḥ
vaidehyā nipatan bhāti gaṅgeva gaganāc cyutā
tasyāḥ stana-antarāt = from her heart; bhraṣṭaḥ = fell off; hāraḥ = pearl necklace; tārā-adhipa-dyutiḥ = that shone like the moon; vaidehyāḥ = Vaidehī’s; nipatan = while falling down [to the ground]; bhāti = it looked; gaṅgā = Gaṅgā; iva = like; gaganāt = from the sky; cyutā = descending.
Vaidehī’s pearl necklace that shone like the moon fell off from her heart. While falling down [to the ground], it looked like Gaṅgā descending from the sky.
