Chapter 63: Rāma’s Pain of Separation from Sītā
Text 3.62.3
न मद्विधो दुष्कृतकर्मकारी मन्ये द्वितीयोऽस्ति वसुन्धरायाम्।
शोकेन शोको हि परम्पराया मामेति भिन्दन्हृदयं मनश्च॥
na mad-vidho duṣkṛta-karmakārī
manye dvitīyo ’sti vasundharāyām
śokena śoko hi paramparāyā
mām eti bhindan hṛdayaṁ manaś ca
na = no one; mat-vidhaḥ = like Me; duṣkṛta-karmakārī = a person of sinful activities; manye = I think that; dvitīyaḥ = else; asti = there is; vasundharāyām = on earth; śokena śokaḥ hi paramparāyā = sorrow after sorrow; mām = to Me; eti = comes; bhindan = while breaking; hṛdayam = My heart; manaḥ = mind; ca = and.
I think that there is no one else like Me—a person of sinful activities—on earth. Sorrow after sorrow comes to Me while breaking My heart and mind!
The second line of the verse clarifies the first line.
The mind resides in the heart.
In the next verse, He imagines the cause of [His experience of] a series of sorrows.
