Chapter 70: The Fall of Kabandha
Text 3.70.17

एवमुक्तः कबन्धस्तु लक्ष्मणेनोत्तरं वचः।
उवाच परमप्रीतस्तदिन्द्रवचनं स्मरन्॥

evam uktaḥ kabandhas tu lakṣmaṇenottaraṁ vacaḥ
uvāca parama-prītas tad indra-vacanaṁ smaran

evam = in this manner; uktaḥ = spoke; kabandhaḥ tu = to Kabandha; lakṣmaṇena = when Lakṣmaṇa; uttaram = in reply; vacaḥ = [the following] words; uvāca = he spoke; parama-prītaḥ = and became extremely delighted; tat = the; indra-vacanam = words of Indra; smaran = Kabandha remembered.

When Lakṣmaṇa spoke to Kabandha in this manner, Kabandha remembered the words of Indra and became extremely delighted. He spoke [the following] words in reply.

Kabandha became delighted when he recognized that it was time for him to be liberated from the curse on him. The words of Indra will be presented in the next chapter.
