Chapter 72: Kabandha Tells Rāma About Sugrīva
Text 3.72.16
भवितव्यं हि यच्चापि न तच्छक्यमिहान्यथा।
कर्तुमिक्ष्वाकुशार्दूल कालो हि दुरतिक्रमः॥
bhavitavyaṁ hi yac cāpi na tac chakyam ihānyathā
kartum ikṣvāku-śārdūla kālo hi duratikramaḥ
bhavitavyam hi = which is destined to happen; yat = that; ca = and; api = moreover; na tat śakyam = cannot; iha = now; anyathā kartum = be undone; ikṣvāku-śārdūla = O tiger among the Ikṣvākus; kālaḥ = time; hi = because; duratikramaḥ = is insurmountable.
And moreover, that which is destined to happen cannot be undone now, O tiger among the Ikṣvākus, because time is insurmountable.
