Chapter 75: Śrī Rāmacandra Reaches Pampā
Text 3.75.14
स तामासाद्य वै रामो दूरादुदकवाहिनीम्।
मतङ्ग-सरसं नाम ह्रदं समवगाहत॥
sa tām āsādya vai rāmo dūrād udaka-vāhinīm
mataṅga-sarasaṁ nāma hradaṁ samavagāhata
saḥ = He; tām = to that; āsādya vai rāmaḥ dūrāt = Lord Rāma came closer; udaka-vāhinīm = lake; mataṅga-sarasam = Mataṅga-saras; nāma = famous by the name; hradam = in the pond; samavagāhata = then bathed.
Lord Rāma came closer to that lake. He then bathed in the pond famous by the name Mataṅga-saras.1
1 Mataṅga-saras means “Mataṅga’s lake.”
This pond was near Pampā. Lord Rāmacandra bathed in that pond because it was holy.
